Stephanie has been teaching, playing and performing on the Native American
Flute since her studies with Michael Tlayo Quijas in California. She was
actively involved in the Northern California Flute Circle (NCFC) until
February of 2001, when she relocated to Hillsboro, Oregon. She is a
doctoral candidate in the field of Clinical Psychology researching healing
and the Native American Flute, and currently teaches Native American Flute
at the Native American Rehabilitation Association (NARA, NW), a drug and
alcohol rehab program for Native Americans of all Tribes and Nations, and
the Oregon Indian Education Program. Stephanie also teaches Native Flute in
Hillsboro, and NE Portland at the Native American Fellowship. To date, she
has also published 5 articles in _Voice of the Wind_, the official
publication of the International Native American Flute Association (INAFA).
Stephanie is also the facilitator of the Cascadia Flute Circle, which meets in the greater Portland, Oregon, Area. Cascadia Flute Circle has recorded their own CD, and is actively performing for Native benefit organizations. Cascadia Flute Circle has a large membership, and a strong core performance group. The Flute Circle is very active and is a wonderful and talented group of people. We also have several members who are also accomplished flute makers. See, www.cascadiaflutecircle.org She recently guested on Jan Michael "Looking Wolf" Reibach's DVD entitled "Tribute" and is currently working on another CD project with Looking Wolf, entitled "Tribute to the Flutemakers." Performances include Salem World Beat Festival, various benefit organizations, Oregon Zoo, Vancouver Peace & Justice Fair, other concert appearances, guest lecturer at Oregon State University (OSU), weddings, and has an ongoing, monthly engagement with the Native American Fellowship to play at their ceremonies. Stephanie is also available for private lessons, workshops, lectures, weddings, and performances. |
