I found the Native American flute in July 1997. It all started when I attended a benefit concert that R. Carlos Nakai played at in Arlee, Montana. As I sat there mesmerized by Nakai's flute playing, I promised myself that I would learn how to play the flute. I normally don't react that way, but with the flute, it impacted me pretty profoundly. The following day, July 2, 1997, I purchased my first flute and it has been one incredible journey since then. I live in Missoula, Montana with my wife Sherry and our three furry children, Sasha, Katrina and Montana. Since taking up the Native American flute I have taught myself to play the Anasazi and Hopi flute, the Irish flute, the Shakuhachi and the Bansuri. Because of the beauty of the music that the NAF has brought into my life, I have found myself pulled to many other musical instruments. I am now finding myself obsessed with the didgeridoo. Again, it has been one incredible journey, and I sense that this is just beginning.
